Local History Center

The Local History Center is your portal to information and materials relating to the rich heritage of the Syosset community. You will also find about upcoming local history events and library programs, as well as a means to view photos and materials from the collection.

The icon Local History Finding Aid is an online guide to the contents of the collection. This finding aid is frequently updated as more items in the collection indexed and recorded.

Veteran's History Project

Syosset Library’s Veterans History Project will collect the memories, accounts and documents of war veterans from World War I, World War II, the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars and preserve these stories of experience and service for future generations. Teen volunteers will interview veterans to learn about their experiences during their service.

The project is open to all veterans and any civilians who were directly involved in supporting the war effort and who are willing to be interviewed on videotape. This program will help preserve your memories and experiences for future generations. Interviews will be conducted by appointment.

For more information please contact Barney Levantino or Sharon Long at Syosset Library (516-921-7161).
