Job & Career Center
Syosset Library has provided links to popular websites and websites suggested by job search professionals to assist you in your job search. These include links to civil service, governmental and local and national organization websites.
Syosset Library's Job Search Center is located on the third floor. The Job & Career Collection contains extensive print and online resources on Graduate Schools and entrance exams, books to research careers in both government and the private sector, resume and cover letter writing, civil service exams and general information on job searching. The Library has compiled a Job Search Information packet that patrons can take home, containing general information and numerous websites containing job opportunities.
Syosset Library offers free computer classes to Syosset Library card holders. This hands-on experience is a great way to learn how to use a computer or improve your skills. All classes are taught one-on-one by a Reference Librarian, which allows you to learn at your own pace. Topics include:
- General Classes (including Job Search Resources and Creating a Resume with Learning Express)
- Computer and Internet Skills
- Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word)
- Social Networking
- Library Databases (including Morningstar and language learning with Mango Languages)
