Read a book to your newborn, infant, toddler, and/or preschooler. The goal is to have read 1000 books (you can repeat books) before kindergarten. If you just read one book a night, you will have read 365 books in one year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. If you consider that most children start Kindergarten at or around 5 years, you have more time than you think! To help, the Children’s Room will offer incentives for every 200 books you read.

Who?
For children from birth until kindergarten (and their caregivers).

What?
Help your child get ready for school by reading 1000 books before kindergarten.

How?

Step 1: Register at the Children’s Desk and receive your 1000 Books Before Kindergarten kit.
Step 2: Read to your child and color in the shapes for each book read.
Step 3: Bring your log to the Children’s Desk to receive a prize when you have read 200 books.
