The SeniorNet Program, and educational course that teaches computer skills to residents age 50 and older, is being offered. Classes are administered by the Education & Assistance Corporation (EAC). SeniorNet provides ongoing computer classes on a variety of topics, including basic computer knowledge, word processing and use of the Internet. Students pay a nominal fee for course materials. Courses typically run one and a half hours one day a week for six to eight weeks. For more information on the SeniorNet Program, call EAC at 539-0150, extension 130.

Town of Oyster Bay affordable housing for seniors, who are being forced to leave their families and friends. The total number of units approved to date by the Town Board is 1,112 Units. The RSC-25 "Golden Age" (formerly S-2) cooperatives are sold through private real estate companies and privately run, although residents are screened for eligibility by the Town's Department of Intergovernmental Affairs. Nassau County Senior Citizen Leisure Passport: Nassau County residents 60 years of age and over are eligible. Applications must be made in person with proof of age and residency. Seniors in the Town of Oyster Bay, age 60 and older, enjoy a wide variety of social/recreational programs provided by Town and independently sponsored senior citizen clubs.

Services within the clubs include bridge, line dancing, tai chi, qi gong, ballroom dancing, arts and crafts, and. painting. Clubs have monthly luncheons and trips. The Town provides teaching specialists and materials for most activities.

Senior Citizen Services also provides day trips to luncheon cruises, museums, Valentine's Day celebrations, a fall festival, seniors day and much more.

Special events include: town wide day trips to such events as Broadway shows, luncheon cruises, golf outings and shopping excursions, a six-week summer program, a free travel brochure listing trips specially planned for seniors, ballroom dancing, painting workshops, tai chi and line dancing.
