On some 200 acres of rolling hills, more than 55 historic buildings -- all original structures saved from destruction and moved to the site -- provide the setting for costumed interpreters to portray farmers, teachers, storekeepers, blacksmiths, civic leaders, and others who made up a community of the mid-1800s. Each month is highlighted by a special activity at Old Bethpage, such as Weekend Magic Lantern shows in January, corn and potato planting and sheep shearing in May, and Fall Harvest in October.
